Driving, Flying or Being Driven
Chicago is the awkward distance. Too far to drive comfortably, too close for flying to save much time once you count the airports at both ends.
The Flight Is Not Faster
An hour in the air, but two hours at IND before it, twenty minutes to collect bags at O’Hare, and forty-five minutes into the city from there. Door to door, the difference against being driven is smaller than most people assume, and it comes with security queues and delays.
Chicago Traffic Is the Real Problem
The last hour of this drive is the hard part, and it is entirely about what time you hit the Skyway or the Dan Ryan. A chauffeur who runs the route regularly picks the approach that is moving, which is not always the one the map suggests.
Parking in the Loop
Downtown Chicago parking is expensive and finding it is worse. Being dropped at the door and collected from an agreed point removes the part of the trip nobody plans for.

This is the longest route we run regularly, so comfort matters more than on anything else. These are the vehicles most people choose for it.

Mercedes Sprinter
The most booked vehicle on this route. Individual climate control and room to stand up, which matters over three or four hours.
Inside the Sprinter
Premium leather seating with individual climate control and overhead lighting. Comfortable enough to work in for the whole drive.
Cadillac Escalade
Solo travellers and small parties. Quiet enough to take calls the whole way, with room for luggage on an overnight trip.
Chevrolet Suburban
The most luggage capacity of any six-seater we run. The usual choice for O’Hare transfers and multi-day trips with bags.
Executive Mini Bus
Conventions, corporate groups and large family travel. Lowest cost per head by a distance on a route this long.

Forward-facing coach seating with overhead storage and air conditioning. Built for distance rather than short hops.
The Route and the Timing
Indianapolis to Chicago is around three hours to the state line and another hour or so into the city, depending entirely on when you arrive. Early morning and late evening are straightforward. Weekday rush hour into the Loop is not.
Because the last hour swings so much, we work backwards from the time you need to be somewhere rather than quoting a best case. A meeting at ten in the morning and a dinner at seven in the evening are different departure times for the same distance.
Pickups run from anywhere in Central Indiana, and multiple addresses on one booking are common. Note that Chicago runs on Central time, an hour behind Indianapolis, which is worth confirming when you book.

How long does the drive take?

Is it worth it compared with flying?
For one person on a tight schedule, sometimes not. For two or more, or for anyone who wants the travel time to be usable, usually yes. Once you count getting to IND, security, the flight, bags at O’Hare and the ride into the city, the door-to-door difference is smaller than it looks.
How much does it cost?
Quoted as a flat rate based on vehicle, group size and whether it is one way, a return, or a full day with the car held for you. Agreed before you book and unchanged afterwards.
Do you go to O’Hare and Midway?
Yes, both, in either direction. Flight tracking is included, so a delayed arrival adjusts the pickup at our end at no extra cost.
Can you stay with us for the day?
Yes. Hourly and as-directed bookings hold the vehicle and chauffeur for the duration, which suits roadshows and multi-stop days. There is no meter running while you are inside.
Do you go to other cities?
