The two-hour problem

Why People Book This Route

Indianapolis to Louisville is far enough that driving yourself changes the day, and close enough that flying makes no sense. That gap is exactly where a chauffeur earns its place.

Nobody Draws the Short Straw

The usual arrangement is that one person stays sober and resents it for two hundred miles. Derby, a bourbon trail run, a bachelor party, a client dinner — all of them work better when the whole group has the same day and somebody else drives home.

Four Hours You Get Back

Two hours each way is half a working day. In the back of a Sprinter or an SUV that time is yours: calls, email, sleep, or a group that arrives in the mood it left in rather than frayed from the drive.

Parking Solved at Both Ends

Downtown Louisville parking is expensive and Churchill Downs parking is worse. You are dropped at the door and collected from an agreed point, which removes the part of the day people plan for least.

The Price Is Agreed First

A flat rate quoted before you book and unchanged afterwards. No surge on a Derby weekend, no meter running while you are inside, and no renegotiation because demand rose.

What we run

Common Louisville Trips

Kentucky Derby

The 153rd Running is on Saturday 1 May 2027, with Oaks the day before. Our busiest Louisville date by a considerable distance, and the one that books out first.

Bourbon Trail and Distillery Tours

Distillery tours are a tasting day. A chauffeur is not a luxury on that trip, it is the only sensible way to do it and get home.

Corporate and Client Travel

Meetings, site visits and client hospitality in Louisville. Priced as a flat transfer or held hourly for the day if you have several stops.

Louisville Airport (SDF)

Sometimes a schedule out of Louisville beats anything from IND. We run the transfer both ways, with flight tracking included as standard.

Concerts and Events

Louisville venues, festivals and games. Dropped close, collected afterwards, and no queue for a surge-priced ride at midnight.

Weddings and Family Occasions

Guests travelling down from Indianapolis for a Louisville wedding, or a family group heading to an event together in one vehicle.

The fleet

Vehicles for the Drive

Two hours each way changes what suits. Comfort and space matter more here than on a twenty-minute airport run.

Photographs show vehicles from our fleet. Interiors are refreshed periodically and vehicles are rotated through service, so the finish of the vehicle supplied may differ in detail from the images here. Capacity and vehicle class are confirmed when you book.

Getting there

The Route and the Timing

Indianapolis to Louisville is around two hours on I-65 in normal conditions. From the southern suburbs it is less. We dispatch from Johnson County, which puts us on the right end of the interstate before the day even starts.

Derby weekend and major event days are not normal conditions, so we plan the departure around when you need to be there rather than around the map estimate.

Pickups run from anywhere in Central Indiana, and multiple addresses on one booking are common for group trips. We work them into the route rather than charging for each stop separately.

Booked a van for a wine tour. Mitch, the driver, had hangover kits for everyone. He took us to four different wineries and we had a great time. Cannot wait to do another one.

The bus was clean, comfortable, spacious, rode smooth, and was stocked with plenty of goodies. Our driver was on time, professional, and overall a good time. I felt safe while still being able to let loose and enjoy myself.

From the very start Indy Executive Limo was easy to work with. Our driver, GP, showed patience, flexibility and kindness. This is our second year using this company and their service has been consistently excellent.

Common questions

Louisville Transfer FAQ

How long does the drive take?

Around two hours each way on I-65 in normal traffic, less from the southern suburbs. Derby weekend and major event days need more, and we plan the departure around your arrival time rather than the map estimate.

Can you do a day trip, or do we need to stay over?

Most groups go down and back in the same day, which is entirely workable with a chauffeur because nobody has to drive home. If you are staying over we can run the two legs on separate dates, or hold the vehicle for the weekend.

How much does it cost?

Quoted as a flat rate for the trip based on vehicle and group size, agreed before you book and unchanged afterwards. There is no surcharge added later, including on Derby weekend.

Do you cover the Kentucky Derby?

Yes, and it is our busiest Louisville date. The 153rd Running is Saturday 1 May 2027. See our Derby transport page for the full weekend schedule. Book well ahead.

Can you pick up from several addresses?

Yes, and it is common for group trips. Multiple pickups across Central Indiana are worked into the route rather than charged for individually.

Do you go to other cities?

Yes. Cincinnati and Chicago come up regularly, along with airport transfers to SDF, CVG and ORD when the schedule from IND does not work. Call for a quote on those.
